MCIII

MCIII opens a brand new chapter in the story of Moët & Chandon. The ultimate expression and definitive fusion of the House’s savoir-faire, MCIII represents the pinnacle of winemaking prowess honed for more than 270 years, from Moët Impérial to Moët & Chandon Grand Vintage to Moët Ice Impérial.

An innovative, intuitive assemblage, MCIII is the crowning glory of centuries of expertise and an unprecedented concept in champagne making: For the very first time, the House has crafted a champagne from vintage wines meticulously matured in three essential aging environments: metal, wood and glass. The quintessence of richly diverse forms of wine maturation, MCIII is an assemblage of fine vintage wines aged in stainless steel vats and oak casks combined with more mature vintage champagne aged on lees in glass bottles.

This ultra-prestige cuvée is a bold new assemblage, a hybrid creation, a pioneering interpretation of multi-vintages champagne. MCIII masterfully embodies the force of diverse vintage wines matured in three different environments: metal, wood and glass.
The uncommonly refined personality of MCIII lies in this strikingly pioneering blend, which renders the characteristics of each of the assembled wines even bolder and more forceful. Moët & Chandon captures the supreme attributes of each aging environment to craft a remarkable champagne, a trilogy of ideally balanced diversity.
The result, A champagne that boasts the perfect equilibrium of harmony and complexity, the House’s statement of the ultimate in tasting pleasure, an undeniably sumptuous, exclusive experience.

The MCIII Trilogy: A 3-Tier Assemblage

The philosophy underlying MCIII is based on a pioneering three-tier assemblage. Each tier complements and enhances the others for a perfectly integrated whole. Each tier contributes its individual, unique strengths without dominating the others to create a wine that is both appealingly complex and ideally balanced.

MCIII, State of the Art Moët & Chandon

Both thoroughly Moët and singularly different, MCIII refines Moët & Chandon’s signature style to its very essence. The House’s ultra-premium cuvée is grounded in Moët & Chandon’s hallmark bright fruitiness, enticing palate and elegant maturity. Yet MCIII elevates these qualities to exquisite new heights for a champagne of compelling fruitiness, captivating palate and eminent maturity - a wine of ultimate complexity and harmony.
The MCIII assemblage is driven by the Chef de Cave’s expertise, personal flair and winemaking instincts. Elaborating this champagne is a matter of orchestrating intricate dynamics that are constantly moving and evolving. MCIII is the result of a new vision that draws its inspiration from the unique personalities developed by the assembled wines in in their particular aging environments: metal, wood and glass.

MCIII Cuvée 001.14

The creation of MCIII relies on a consistent concept: MCIII is a multi-vintage assemblage. Every successive MCIII saga—every unique expression of MCIII—will embody the same concept. Diverse wines will be united by a common philosophy and structure yet each will preserve its own personality.
The first MCIII saga is the cuvée 001.14. ‘001’ references the first cuvée, and “.14” references the disgorgement date. This wine is the fruit of 10 years of assemblage and cellar aging.

Tasting Notes

The complex fragrance reveals itself gradually, layer by layer, as families of aromas seamlessly follow one another in smooth succession. First come mature, darker, warm, sweet notes of coffee, malt, mocha, praline, licorice, Tonka bean, pecan, ripened wheat and Viennese pastry. Subsequently the wine’s rich, intense fruitiness comes to the fore with nuances of citrus peel, citron, kumquat, bergamot and verbena. The final aromas are mineral-tinged, redolent of flint and the iodine scent of the sea, along with dry toasted notes.
On the palate, the maturity and richness are first evidenced by a dynamic expansiveness, a sensation of silky opulence. The wine is both full-bodied and delicate, dense and lithe, imposing and elegant. A form of controlled power, evocative of a thoroughbred stallion, progressively releases itself, channeled and guided by the structure of the champagne. Fruitiness is expressed in notes of candied citrus fruits, stone fruits (plums and nectarines), dried figs and dates along with warm spices (vanilla, cinnamon and nutmeg.) The wine evolves toward a precise, mineral finish, with a slightly bitter saltiness that is refreshing and invigorating.
